Fairy Tale Friday

Well Ladies and Gents...I can't believe how obsessed the girls at Teddy Bo Towers have become recently with sports.  They've not quite got to the level of actually competing yet, but they have been faithfully watching the football over the last couple of weeks and have been building up 'quite' a sweat just watching it...but now that the tennis has started......WOW...they're REALLY enthusiastic for that too!!!  They're so enthusiastic that Tammy and a few of the girls INSISTED that we recreated Wimbledon's 'Henman's Hill' just outside the tower.  Initially I was a bit concerned as it bore no connection to our Scottish hopeful Andy Murray but the girls quickly agreed that we could name it Murray Mound!!!

SO......last Sunday Tammy, full of enthusiasm, rounded up all of the girls to start building up the 'mound'....goodness only knows what she'd promised them as they too were very enthusiastic....not too sure who they were all talking about but whoever the new tennis player 'Mr Grey' is he's certainly got the girls excited...his tennis playing must be fantastic, I can't wait to see his skills on the court!!  Even Debbie, who normally hates ANY kind of mess couldn't contain herself and was first in the line to get her hand on the tools that Tammy was handing out......!

Off they went to start digging while I got the electricals sorted to hang the telly out of the second floor bathroom window as that's the only way we could get any reception from the back of the took me ages but I managed to do it all on my own as the girls were clearly too busy with their digging as I could hear them 'ooooing' and 'aaaaaing'...clearly they too were impressed with their progress!!

It took me a few hours to get the telly out of the window safely enough as the girls couldn't see the wee screen of Claire's portable TV (complete with knitted cover) so it was the 50" screen one from the TV room....thank goodness the pulley system for the window cleaning was still operational!!  As I went outside to admire my handywork I was met with a rather disapointing 'mound'...infact it was more like a pimple than a mound....but the girls were exhausted and panting a lot so I guess it must have been hard work for them.  I suppose I should be happy though as they were all lying about on the grass reading the new tennis player's autobiography.....I think it was called '50 shades of Grey'....clearly this man's either having problems washing his 'whites' properly or he has a multiple personality issue!!  Either way the girls were delighted with Tammy's idea of starting a fan club for Mr Grey...apparently he's quite a 'wizz' on the courts!!!!!

Thankfully they still managed to make some cards this week...and aren't they wonderful..x

Mojo Monday

Welcome to another Mojo Monday and today I thought I would share with you Cameo's.
I love these and think that they look so Shabby Chic. They are also really good fun to have a go at doing yourself too and make them into pictures.

Cameo is a method of carving an object such as an engraved gem, item of jewellery or vessel made in this manner. It nearly always features a raised (positive) relief image; contrast with intaglio, which has a negative image. Originally, and still in discussing historical work, cameo only referred to works where the relief image was of a contrasting colour to the background; this was achieved by carefully carving a piece of material with a flat plane where two contrasting colours met, removing all the first colour except for the image to leave a contrasting background.

All pictures from Pinterest

You can always have a go at making your own Cameo out of paper. All you need to do is take a photo side view and then print it out. Next you need to cut around the face, last of all you need to trace around onto coloured paper and cut out. Simple :0)

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed

Fairy Tale Friday

The football is still ongoing, but with the attention spans of goldfish, the girls have quickly forgotten about it . The London 2012 Olympic Games is their new passion.
The girls have been in practice for the tournament on the off chance some of the athletes have to withdraw due to illness. They all insist they are ready for the challenge.
The girls decided that their sport would be synchronised swimming. Practice began at the village pond on Monday (just a few days after their caravan was removed from the pond - see last weeks tale) , and after 4 days of practice Gayle's now got over her fear of water and can stick her face below the surface for 5 seconds before resurfacing, although she usually spends the next 5 minutes coughing and spluttering. It's just a matter of time before she's performing underwater like a ballerina.
Practice hasn't been going well. The key problem with the pond is that it's only 4 feet deep. Every time the girls try a forward roll in the water, someone cracks their head on the concrete floor, and that holds up the practice until the injured party gets some TCP and a plaster for their wounds.
Last night they went to the local town to visit the swimming baths. The idea was good, but there's no where for the teenagers to go at nights, so the swimming pool was chock full of kids from 12 to 16 years old chatting in the pool and not swimming. However after growling at the teenagers, the girls managed to get a small empty space, and practice began.
Immediately Tammy pretended to drown so she could be rescued by a macho life guard It's one of her fantasies), s o the girls continued with one member short. Legs were flying everywhere, Gayle accidentally stood on Maritha's hair without realising it.   Maritha couldn't get back to the surface and started to drown while Gayle watched Tammy chasing the life guard around the poolside. Only a flying kick from Sonia managed to strike Gayle and knock her over, allowing Maritha to surface spluttering. As Gayle fell over, she went into a panic as she hates water, and the life guard had to make a 2nd rescue (getting him away from Tammy in the process). It took him 30 seconds to rescue Tammy, but a full 8 minutes to rescue Gayle as he kept trying to take her to the opposite side of the pool from Tammy. Every time he got close to the other side, Tammy appeared as if by magic. Poor Gayle was being dragged around the pool kicking and screaming.
The girls had a bonding session in the pub after the training session. Apparently next week will be Javelin practice. Each had a shot at the dart board in the pub, but no one managed to hit the target. It's not likely they'll be heading to the Olympics any time soon.

Thankfully the girls didn't want to return to the pool after that and they managed to make some cards!!!

Buffy's very similar to me to me when I was growing up. A child in an adult world, sort of trapped between the two. Does Buffy go to the prom or does she save the world from demons?
